So you are going to transport your car to a new place and you have managed to hire a professional auto transport company. Prepping your car for transport and analyzing the vehicle during delivery is the two important sections that you need to care for.

Prepping your car

Firstly, wash your car properly even if it is going to be shipped in an open trailer. This would help you to notice any scratches, chips or other damages clearly. Remove all your personal belongings from the car. The auto transport companies do not entertain any types of personal things being kept in the car. They are not legally permitted to transport such items. Moreover, such possessions would not be covered under insurance too. Make sure to disable the car alarm. The car shipping company would not like to waste their time disabling your car alarm. So better shut off the alarm. Do not fill the gas tank completely. Keep it only up to 1/4 so as to reduce the overall weight of the vehicle.

Your car may have specialty items or loose parts like ground effects, spoilers, fog lights etc. remember to fold back your wide mirrors and lower the antennae. During car shipping, it is better to transport convertibles with the top and secured properly. You must make sure that the battery is fully charged and the tires are properly inflated. Pick up instructions
